About Us

The Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce began operations on May 31st, 2003 as the Peninsula Tidewater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. On May 20, 2005 the organization emerged as the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to better serve the Hispanic business community in Hampton Roads.

During the fall of 2002, a coalition of Hispanic women envisioned an organization that would connect Hispanic owned business to the growing business community. The Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce began operations on May 31st, 2003 as the Peninsula Tidewater Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. On May 20, 2005 the organization emerged as the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The goal was to provide Hispanic businesses the opportunity to enter the non-Hispanic consumer base and educate non-Hispanic business owners, of the great economic impact the fastest growing population will have in the near future. After much research and deliberation, it was decided that a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce would be the best avenue to accomplish these goals.

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce plays an important role in the Hispanic Community. Now as the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Coastal Virginia (HCC-COVA), the Chamber has increased its focus to include all the communities in Coastal Virginia. Although the focus has grown geographically, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Coastal Virginia is still focused on promoting business, and to be an advocate to the Hispanic Community. Its activities and programs will reach out to family, friends and neighbors in the community.
